A honeymoon is mostly about uninterrupted time, and the north gives you that.
The regency's own tourism office describes the coast around Lovina as a string of fishing villages on black sand, with a quiet atmosphere. There is little traffic, the beaches are uncrowded and there is no nightlife economy.
In practice you get space and privacy. That means a villa with its own pool and a gate, and a beach you walk onto without queuing. In the evening, the loudest thing is the sea.
The romance here comes from the landscape, and the venues are few. If your honeymoon means a different restaurant every night and a rooftop bar, the north will disappoint you. If it means a pool, a book, a sunset and one good outing a day, the north does it well.

This is the north's signature outing, and it is better as a couple than in a group.
Boats leave the Lovina shore around sunrise to find wild dolphins offshore. The Buleleng tourism office describes the trips as running on traditional jukung outriggers, led by captains who know the local waters.

When to Go: the Dry Season, Checked against the Current Forecast
The dry season is the time for a honeymoon here. It brings calm water for the dolphin trip, firm waterfall trails and clear evenings.
Indonesia's meteorological agency, BMKG, publishes the seasonal forecast each year. Its Bali climatology station issues the bulletins for the island's climate zones.
In a recent bulletin, the station put the start of the dry season between April and May across Bali. That was later than the long-term average in many zones, so check the current forecast and do not assume a fixed calendar.

Getting There: About Three Hours by Road from the Airport
The transfer from Ngurah Rai airport takes around three hours, over the mountains. It is the one real cost of coming north.

How to Fit It In: a Five-Night Plan
Five nights covers the coast and one night in the hills:
- Day one: arrive and go nowhere. After the three-hour transfer, the first evening is dinner near the villa and an early night.
- Day two: dolphins at dawn, then back for breakfast and the pool. A treatment in the afternoon, and dinner on the sand.
- Day three: a waterfall in the morning while it is cool. The hot springs at Banjar and the monastery above them come after, and you are back by late afternoon.
- Day four: drive up to Munduk, stopping at the lakes, and stay the night in the hills. Cool air and mist make for a very different evening.
- Day five: a ridge walk or a coffee farm, then back to the coast. If you are splitting the honeymoon, carry on towards the south.

Practical Notes
- The transfer is long: around three hours from Ngurah Rai over the mountains. Build it into day one.
- Dining is limited: there is a handful of good places and no restaurant scene. If eating out somewhere new every night matters, this is the wrong coast.
- There is no nightlife: many honeymooners count that as a feature.
- Distances inland are real: sites are spread out, so a private driver for the day is the sane way to chain them.
